Nowadays, the application of Information Technology is extended to encompass and support many industries in Hong Kong. To meet the growing demands for IT professionals, a comprehensive suite of contemporary IT courses is designed and developed to serve specific market needs covering two broad areas: Information & Communications Technology and Multimedia & Entertainment Technology.
Information and Communications Technology courses prepare students to develop and administer different types of IT solutions and communication networks while Multimedia and Entertainment Technology courses prepare students to work in the creative industries like multimedia advertising, mobile media, visual effects, multimedia web development, digital entertainment, computer games and animation.

Department of Information Technology has established a rich infrastructure to support specific teaching and learning needs. A variety of software packages is available ranging from PC applications to industry-standard development tools. There is a wide range of well-equipped computer laboratories and multimedia facilities to support specific areas of studies, including: - Video Production Studio - Audio Production Studio - 3D and Multimedia Advertising Laboratory - Games and Animation Laboratory - Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Laboratory - Information and Communication Technology Laboratory - Pervasive Computing and Internet of Things Laboratory - Network Technology Laboratory |
All courses are practical in nature, involving substantial amount of practical and project works. A variety of quality teaching pedagogy is adopted. Students are expected to attend lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions, supported by interactive courseware and self-study packages available on the campus intranet. In addition to regular course work, students are given the opportunity to participate in various programmes and activities, such as language enhancement programme, mentorship programme, workplace attachment programme, cross-border visits, industrial visits, seminars and international competitions. |
Most of our graduates are initially employed as junior IT professionals in the public or private sector and then being promoted to managerial positions. There are many opportunities for being technically skilled personnel in the rapidly growing areas of Information Technology. |
