The Department of Engineering aims to provide quality and competent based courses for vocational education. All courses emphasise both theory and application so that students can apply the knowledge and skills that they have learnt. The courses curricular are designed in consultation with professional bodies, trade associations, industrialists and tertiary institutions. |

The teaching activities are supported by a range of well-equipped laboratories. These include the CADD Centre, Building Services Laboratory, Electronic and Electrical Services Laboratory, Building Services Engineering Training Workshop, 3D Printing Room, Science and Materials Laboratory. Apart from the vocational training facilities, there are upgraded Computer Laboratories, advanced Language Training Centre. Through these wide range of supporting facilities, we are able to offer students an improved and dynamic learning environment. |
Final year students will be given opportunities to attach to industrial workplaces for about 3 months in the final semester. The industrial attachment programme aims to develop student’s competence in different work activities in the trade, and to enhance their employability and competitiveness to meet the industrial needs and demands. |
There are numerous career opportunities for the courses offered within the Department. Graduates can be employed as assistant engineers, technicians in the various industrial and commercial enterprises. Some of the higher diploma courses are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and satisfy the academic requirement for associate members. |
There are various further study opportunities for higher diploma graduates in local and overseas education institutions. Diploma/certificate graduates can further their studies through taking the part-time higher diploma courses offered by IVE. |
