    The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a member institute of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), established in 2012.  It is an innovative, professional and entrepreneurial organisation committed to greening and sustainability.  THEi offers more than 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programmes across six Academic Departments: Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology.  These programmes cover industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region.  The programmes integrate practical applications with theoretical knowledge to ensure that students can effectively apply what they have learned.  Our degree programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, as well as by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate.  By adopting an applied Science-Oriented teaching approach and focusing on applied Bachelor's degree programmes, THEi equips students with professional skills and knowledge to meet various future challenges upon graduation.  THEi also collaborates closely with the industry and engage students in active learning pedagogies including a strong emphasis on project-based learning involving real-world problem-solving with and for local industries and professions.

    Major Duties:
    The appointee shall report to the Vice President (Academic) on the planning, development, implementation and review of the Master of Science (MSc) in Sports Management programme.  The Programme aims to equip students with advanced management skills relevant to the sports industry, including strategic planning, digital marketing, and mega event management.
       
    The appointee will provide strong academic leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies; curriculum development of programme modules in Sports Management in the following areas:
    - Leading and Planning of Mega Events
    - Mega Event Operation and Management
    - Sports System and Event Operation in Mainland China
    - Applications of Sports Therapy in the Industry
    - Scientific Support in Elite Athletes Training
     
    The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising student work; delivering quality programme; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry and promoting the Institute and the programme.  The appointee will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutes on collaborative arrangement to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programme.  Experience in the new programme development and accreditation is highly preferred.
     
    The appointee will provide face-to-face and potentially online instruction at postgraduate and/or undergraduate level in both Sports Management and related courses as well as maintaining a record of excellence in teaching, student advising and career mentoring.  The appointee will be required to oversee the MSc degree and related programmes and be heavily involved in the accreditation of the MSc degree programme.  S/he will also have the unique opportunity to lead the inaugural Master degree programme of THEi.
     
    Requirements:
    The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Sports and Leisure Management, Sports Science or a related area, with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrate achievement (or good potential for achievement) in research and scholarly activities, and experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and have high proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua.  S/he must also fulfil one of the following criteria:
    (a) Mother tongue/language is Putonghua; or
    (b) Received a recognised bachelor’s degree or above of which the Medium of Instruction (MOI) was Putonghua; or
    (c) At least 3 years’ work experience in Mainland China or other Putonghua speaking countries or regions; or
    (d) Achieved at least Grade 2 Level B in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work.
         
    Notes:
    (1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
    (2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
    (3) The appointee will work at Chai Wan Campus.
