Major Duties: |
(a) |
To conduct programmes and practical training on port services and seamen’s training / marine engineering and marine-related programmes, and supervise instructors in programme delivery; |
(b) |
To perform teaching duties in the subject area of marine engineering including updating teaching materials, student assessments and supervise student projects, and attending meetings; |
(c) |
To maintain and strengthen networks with industries, professional bodies and government departments; and |
(d) |
To be responsible in: |

(i) |
planning and developing programme / training modules; |
|
(ii) |
formulating manpower plan, and preparing financial estimates, purchase and requisition, training and resources deployment plans; |
|
(iii) |
developing the Aviation and Maritime Education Centre (AMEC); |
|
(iv) |
planning and monitoring the repairs and maintenance, installation, commissioning and application of training equipment and related facilities; and |
|
(v) |
implementing the quality management system and safety management system. |

|
Requirements: |
(a) |
A recognised relevant higher diploma or equivalent; |
(b) |
At least 6 years’ relevant industry experience (including experience on board ships) or teaching experience in recognised maritime training institutions; |
(c) |
Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Ocean-going (Class 2) or above; |
(d) |
Preferably Certificates of Standards on Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 95/STCW 2010 training in first aid, fire-fighting, survival crafts and personal survival techniques; |
(e) |
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua; |
(f) |
Proficiency in computer software applications; and |
(g) |
The ability to pass a trade test. |

Notes: |
(1) |
Candidates without the required academic qualification stated in the Requirement (a) above but possessing (i) Professional Maritime Qualification at Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 4 or above; OR (ii) relevant qualification at Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 plus 12 years’ maritime work experience (including on-board experience in Ocean-going or River Trade) or teaching experience in recognised maritime training institutions may also apply. |
(2) |
Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply. |
(3) |
The appointee(s) will be required to wear working gear provided by the Institute. |
(4) |
The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and in designated places as assigned. |
