    Term Assistant Lecturer (English and Communication)
    Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tuen Mun)

    Major Duties:
    (a) To perform teaching duties and assist in supervision of student projects and fieldwork placement;
    (b) To assist in carrying out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
    (c) To assist in developing programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials;
    (d) To organise language enhancement activities; and
    (e) To participate in projects and functions of the Language Centre.
       
    Requirements:
    (a) (i) A recognised degree in English Language / English Language and Literature / Language Studies (English) / Linguistics / Education (English) / English Communication / Translation (English) or professional qualfication, preferably with a post-graduate qualification; OR
      (ii) A recognised degree in a non-relevant field, preferably with a post-graduate qualification; AND a relevant English teaching qualification, such as Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma in Education (major in English), Teaching English as a Second Language or Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL and English-teaching certification recognised by TESL Canada) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP).  A transcript with course details including the number of hours of instruction and practicum should be provided for consideration;
    (b) Good communication, interpersonal, administrative, presentation and digital skills;
    (c) Good problem solving and time management skills;
    (d) A good team player, able to work on own initiative and willing to meet challenges; and
    (e) Preference will be given to candidates who have relevant teaching experience.
       
    Notes:
    (1) The post is at the rank of Teaching Associate.
    (2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
    (3) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment.

    The VTC Languages Discipline oversees the operation of 17 Language Centres (LCs) located on all IVE/HKDI/HKIIT/YC campuses and the Language Section of HTI/CCI/ICI.  If candidates apply to more than one LC for the post of Term Assistant Lecturer and are shortlisted, they may be invited to attend an interview conducted by one LC only.  Application forms received by one LC may be passed to another LC for appointment purposes.
     
    Applicants not invited for interview within 10 weeks from the closing date may consider their applications unsuccessful.
