    Academic Services Manager

    The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a member institute of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), established in 2012.  It is an innovative, professional and entrepreneurial organisation committed to greening and sustainability.  THEi offers more than 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programmes across six Academic Departments: Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology.  These programmes cover industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region.  The programmes integrate practical applications with theoretical knowledge to ensure that students can effectively apply what they have learned.  Our degree programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, as well as by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate.  By adopting an applied Science-Oriented teaching approach and focusing on applied Bachelor's degree programmes, THEi equips students with professional skills and knowledge to meet various future challenges upon graduation.  THEi also collaborates closely with the industry and engage students in active learning pedagogies including a strong emphasis on project-based learning involving real-world problem-solving with and for local industries and professions.

    Major Duties:
    The Registry is responsible for an array of administrative and academic support services to support the strategic development of the Institute, including committee secretariat, academic programme accreditation, academic policies and regulations, student record and graduation.
     
    Reporting directly to the Assistant Registrar, the Academic Services Manager is required:
    (a) To assist in the formulation and implementation of relevant academic policies, regulations and procedures relating to students and academic affairs, including but not limited to local and non-local student promotion, recruitment and enrolment, quality assurance, examination scheduling, processing of assessment results and graduation;
    (b) To lead a team to perform the following tasks:
      (i) Student admission, administration and support services for both local or non-local (including mainland) students, on verification of academic qualifications and relevant documents, programme registration, student record management and liaison with education agents and/or collaboration partners;
      (ii) Promotion of undergraduate / postgraduate degree programmes and admission requirements / process to education agents and collaboration partners;
      (iii) Liaison with internal and external units including education agents and education institutions regarding student admission, such as admission interviews and advice of interview outcomes;
      (iv) Admission system set-up, enhancements, implementation, testing and data input; and
      (v) Collection and refund of tuition and related fees.
    (c) To review statistics and reports relevant to admission, enrollment and academic performance for programme planning and accreditation exercises;
    (d) To supervise and co-ordinate the work of clerical and supporting staff and ensure timely and effective delivery of student services; and
    (e) To provide secretarial support to committees, projects, functions and events.
       
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree or equivalent, preferably with additional academic or professional qualifications;
    (b) At least 5 years of relevant experience at the appropriate level of responsibilities.  Relevant work experience at the registry of a higher education institution would be an advantage;
    (c) Good knowledge and experience in local / non-local student admission, programme accreditation and administration, quality assurance policies and procedures, committee work and student record processing;
    (d) Strong capability in strategic thinking, proactive problem solving, teamwork and time management; and
    (e) Strong presentation and interpersonal skills; and good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.
         
    Notes:
    (1) The post is at the rank of Senior Officer.

    (3) Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend and pass a written test.
    (4) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong a few times a year, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
    (5) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
    (6) The appointee will work at Chai Wan Campus.
