    Prof Karen CHAN Ka-yin, JP

    Prof Karen CHAN Ka-yin possesses rich experience in manufacturing, marketing, retail and wholesale businesses, as well as e-commerce. She is the Founding Chairlady and Director of Hong Kong O2O E-Commerce Federation Limited (HKOEF), and the Founding Chairlady and Director of Hong Kong Quality Brands Alliance Limited.

    Prof Chan has received numerous prestigious awards for her outstanding achievements, including Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong (2009), APEC Young Women Innovator Award (2013), Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (2014), Justice of the Peace (2017), Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs Award (2017), and GBA Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Award in Family Business (2018). In 2018, she received the honour of Adjunct Professor from Hong Kong Baptist University. This year, Ms. Chan received the JESSICA Most Successful Women Award (2020) and the JCI Tsuen Wan Outstanding Family Business Selection Award (2020).

    Prof Chan has served in a wide spectrum of public services. Among her many present roles, Prof Chan serves as a Council Member of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Deputy Chairman of FHKI, Chairman of Hong Kong Furniture Council, the Vice Chairlady of FHKI Hong Kong Q-Mark Council and the Chairlady of Hong Kong Girl Guides Southern District Association. Also, she is a Board Member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Limited; a Committee Member of the HKSAR Communications Authority; the Director of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and a Member of the HKSAR Standing Committee on Directorate Salaries and Conditions of Service.

    Prof Chan began her partnership with the VTC in 2012 as a Council Member (2012-2017). She was a Member of the Standing Committee from 2015 to 2017, and a Member of the Administration Committee since 2012 and served as the Chairperson from 2016 to 2017. Prof Chan was the Director of the School of Business and Information System (SBI) (2014-2017) and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the VTC Provident Fund Scheme (1999) (2012-2015). Prof Chan was particularly keen on supporting programme development and nourishing talents in the higher education sector for e-commerce. With Prof Chan’s support, the VTC and HKOEF jointly launched a Certificate programme in E-Commerce, which was very well received by the industry. Apart from her professional vision which has driven the VTC to meet fast-changing market needs, Prof Chan has also provided scholarships through donations from her company to benefit the VTC students.
