    Mr Thomas HO On-sing, JP

    Chief Executive, Gammon Construction Limited

    Mr Thomas HO On-sing is a veteran in the construction industry, and possesses extensive network and good relationship with stakeholders in the industry. He became Chief Executive of Gammon Construction in 2005, and is currently a member of the Town Planning Board and its Metro Planning Committee, and a member of the Environmental Campaign Committee. Mr Ho is a Fellow Member of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, a member of the Construction Industry Group of the British Chamber of Commerce, and former President of Hong Kong Construction Association (HKCA). His outstanding leadership has earned him the honour of “Director of the Year” in 2007 from Hong Kong Institute of Directors, and the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards 2016 – Executive Award.

    Mr Ho is deeply committed to public service, and active in promoting innovation excellence and safety in the industry. He is currently member of the Committee on Occupational Safety and Health under the Labour Advisory Board. He is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board, and former Employer Member in the Labour Advisory Board. Mr Ho was awarded “Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award” from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009, and also Justice of Peace by HKSAR Government in 2010.

    Mr Ho has been very supportive of vocational education and the VTC. His company has been offering industry attachment opportunities to over 200 VTC engineering students in recent years. Under Mr Ho’s former presidency, the HKCA has donated over $1.8 million in scholarships to VTC students. HKCA is also a major long-time partner of the VTC in organising the annual Infrastructure Building Competition for Secondary Schools, a popular event in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, attracting over 1 000 participating students from some 200 secondary schools each year across Hong Kong, Macau, and the Mainland. These partnerships have marked important milestones in fostering manpower education for the industry.
